Enriched Living ~ humanitarian aid at work…
Our initial aim in sending Humanitarian Aid was simply to assist in the provision of the most basic necessities for children in institutions, to let them know they were not forgotten or uncared for. However we found Humanitarian Aid had a more powerful dynamic than we anticipated, that of reviving deflated lives and enriching the quality of living beyond our expectations. Doors opened into the previously closed institutions, to visit and spend time with the children. Where possible we used it to teach the children regular lessons on morals, ethics and social responsibility, but all the while our goal was growing to want to see more lives and whole communities awakened and transformed. Humanitarian Aid is now simply our means to that end.
In the seven years we have been sending aid into various centres and locations across Crimea, the message we receive back is the same –
“Humanitarian aid is the greatest tool for sharing the gospel here. It softens the hearts and opens the door for us to declare the love of God and for people to experience the Fatherhood of God. Communism has too long held our people captive in a godless vacuum, but that we receive your aid, all of a sudden an invisible bubble around us bursts and we can taste and breathe the fresh air of hope again. Life is still hard of course, but we are renewed in our spirits because we know we are not alone in our prison anymore.”
